How I made 2017 my best year ever and how you can do it in 2018!
So before I even start this post I want to wish you all a happy and healthy new year!
Happy 2018 best year ever!
Now let's get down to it,
So last year I was basically in a really bad place in my life so I started the new year out with some pretty big intentions in the hopes of dramatically changing my life for the better.
I've never been one to make new years resolutions. Instead, Right before the year ends I try to get my thoughts in order, acknowledge the things I'm grateful for in life and think about the kind of person that I want to be not only in the next year but as I get older. I know if I want to continue to grow as a person there are definitely some changes that I can be making in my life. So I started with the small stuff. Come the end of the year, I've never been happier. I found that setting intentions and goals and actually making a plan were very helpful, even though I'm still such an impulsive person (at least when it comes to shopping anyway) and like to live in the moment. If you don't have any plans how will you ever know how to reach your goals and if you're serious about your intentions they will eventually turn into habits which is what you wanted in the first place right?
Some generally helpful ways to make sure you do stay on track:
Work hard. Work really fucking hard (Even when you don't know if it's going to pay off.)
Write things down! (What you intend to do, the steps you plan to take, the steps you actually did take, what the results were, how they made you feel, what could you have done differently, write it down when you mess up too.)
Hold yourself accountable (but don't beat yourself up)
Reward yourself when you deserve it (after you've done your best)
Save some money!!!! (This one never hurts)
Cut out anything and everything negative that you don't feel good doing especially if it's just to please other people (I just started doing this last year and literally feel so much better about everything in my life)
Remember that it's okay not to be perfect but practice does make perfect. :]
Last year at the end of the year I was going through a lot and life was good but kinda rough. I felt like everyone around me was getting these awesome jobs or traveling all the time and I couldn't catch a break. I was taking care of my sick grandmother who I was extremely close with, caught my boyfriend cheating on me like literally walked in on it (which is actually a great story ill have to tell on here sometime), messed up what would have been a really good job in the city, and those are just the things I'm not too embarrassed to mention on here. Plus I don't like a pity party anyway.
So what did I do? Anything a normal person would do, I turned down a promotion at my current job and went on vacation with the intention of moving to a new city. 2 months later I settled down in the city of Austin, Texas. Which was great until my lease was up and I decided to move back but i'll talk about Texas another time. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is to do things that scare you, do things that make your heart feel good, put yourself first, and PAY ATTENTION, the world's a crazy and exhausting place. It can be easy to get run down trying to please everyone including yourself and stay sane at the same time. Remember that good things take time and good things come to those who work for it.
I wish each and every one of you who reads this a happy and safe new year I hope your year is filled with so many opportunities and blessings that you don't know what to do with yourself.
Let's hope that 2018 is as good to us as 2017 was to Cardi B.
Tell me your intentions/resolution/goals for 2018 and what you've done about them so far
and keep kicking ass!
